Since the last few weeks of middle school for our eighth graders is coming to an end, we thought it would be a great idea to ask a few students to write about what they will miss the most! We even got a few poems from Mrs. Ciminero’s accelerated class!

In my three years at NMS I have a bunch of favorite memories and things I will miss. One of my favorite memories is cheering. It was so fun to do all the band dances and cheers at pep rallies. And the best thing was winning the spirit stick! I looked forward to every game and team dinner. Trying out for cheer was one of the best decisions I have ever made. One of my favorite memories will also be Ms. Breegle’s seventh grade science class. I loved doing all the hands-on activities which made class so fun. Something I will miss most here is the staff. I loved having staff here that will cheer you up in a blink of an eye. Someone specific is Ms. Partridge; she will always be there for you no matter what. I also got to have Mrs. Parry as my cheer coach and teacher which made our bond even better!

One thing that I will miss is my head football coach. Coach Zinz came in last winter and flipped our team around. We went from 1-7 to 6-2 and I am very grateful for that. He showed us that if we put in the work we will get success out of it. He also stepped up a couple of weeks ago when our former coach was forced to resign. He stepped up and took over the lifting making sure that we did not get behind in the off-season progress. I will never forget what he did for my teammates and me this past season.

Golden days are beginning to end.
Oh how I’ll miss it and all of my friends.
Onward to new life but I can’t forget the old ones.
Days that fell like yesterday will shortly be ending.
Because of this you would think I’d be sad,
You would be surprised to hear that I’m glad.
Everyday will build my future,
No matter how good it was.
My mind is set to the future.
Sitting in class might suck but after it’s over, you’ll notice your luck.

I will truly miss the sports at the middle school. This year our sports were pretty good, our football team went 6-2 and our coaches were phenomenal. Playing football and QB with my friends were the best memories of my life, celebrating with my boys after a touchdown pass in the end zone is something you will truly never forget. The opportunity to make new friends and going on the field and depending on the people next to you truly creates friendships that will last forever. Football was not all about the wins and touchdowns, it taught me hard work, and responsibility, I trust my teammates to do anything for me. I do not know what next year will bring me, but I will truly miss playing middle school football.

Gracefully saying farewell.
Oh how I will miss everything in these halls.
Oh how I will miss everything in these walls.
Dancing through each grade without saying anything.
Band we created something each day.
Yesterday is gone and we can’t stay.
Everything here won’t stray.
No matter if we leave,
Memories won’t fray.
Soon we will say goodbye!

I will personally miss the middle school sports, and all the fun I have had in this building. It will be a big change from playing sports at the middle school level to high school level. I’ll never forget the chanting and the screaming in the locker room after a win. I will also never forget when we played Howland and shut them out 24-0. I will miss all my teachers, Mr. McConnell and Mr. Reigle. The 3 years that I have had in this building were very exciting and energetic; but they also flew by really fast. I will also cherish the Washington D.C trip forever; it was the best trip I’ve ever had. The bus ride with your friends, seeing all the monuments, and staying in the hotel room with your friends. I will never forget this time in my life; it was a great time period.
