Let’s meet Ally Rozier. She is certainly so proud to be a champion twirler and we wanted to find out all about it. Presently she is resting at home after having surgery on her leg. We wish her the best and hope this article makes her feel better!
How many years have you been twirling? I’ve been twirling for about 8 years now.
Do you want to be a featured twirler for the NHS and why? Yes, being one of the featured twirler in high school has been my goal since I was 5 and I’ve been putting in the work ever since.
Is twirling a baton hard to do and why? Baton is a hard sport because it involves a lot of trial and error. You may not always get a new trick on the first try, but that’s why you have to keep trying!
Did you twirl for any big games like the Cavs? Any other big teams or venues? Yes, I have twirled at a Cleveland Cavs game, and I’ve also twirled at a Harlem Globetrotters game!
If you could twirl for any sports venue, what would that be? Madison Square Garden.

How did you get started in baton twirling? When I was little I’d dance all around the house. This made my mom sign me up for baton and I’ve been twirling ever since.
What was your most memorable performance or competition? My most memorable performance has to be when we twirled pregame for the Cavs. We got to meet some players which was awesome.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start baton twirling? Advice I’d give to someone who wants to start baton twirling is to just do it. Baton can impact your life in so many ways. You can get so many opportunities and you’ll make many friends along the way!
What are some of your favorite tricks? I love doing rolls such as fishtails and continuous elbows. I also like to do any three baton tricks.
Are you still going to do baton since your ankle injury? Yes, after surgery I’ll be back in January.
How do you prepare for competition, both mentally and physically? I like to make sure I stay hydrated and stretched and I make sure to arrive confidently. I also practice when I’m not actively competing.
What else besides Baton twirling does someone need to know to do to be successful? Like do you have to be a dancer? Etc. To be successful in baton twirling, it helps to be able to tumble and to be a dancer. You also want to always stretch so you don’t pull muscles.
You can get a college scholarship for this; is that your plan? And where would you want to go? Yes, if I got a scholarship for baton I’d want to go to YSU.

How many hours a week do you practice? About 8-10 hours.
