We received very sad news over the summer that our beloved secretary Mrs. Huber passed away from a long battle with breast cancer. Mrs. Huber had a huge impact on our school because she was a helping hand to our students and so much more. She worked in the Niles City Schools for over 35 years. Whenever she found out a student needed food, clothes, school supplies etc. Mrs. Huber always donated to help out anyone in need. She will always be remembered as being so sweet on the phone to colleagues and parents. She leaves her beloved husband, Rick Huber who she worked with for some time during her career. He was head custodian here at NMS and he recently retired. Mrs. Huber was very active in a Facebook group called Niles Nation, and she used to post about how she loves people and how you just need to smile at them.
We asked some of our staff members here at NMS to comment on what a huge loss we are facing now that she is gone.
“Mrs. Huber will always hold a special place here at NMS because she was always so thoughtful, kind and generous. She always put students first.”-Mrs. Elliott
“Mrs. Huber was one of the most caring and generous person. She loved working at our school and if anyone needed anything she would take care of it or you as soon as she could and it was an honor and pleasure to work with her.” -Mrs. Clark
“Mrs. Huber was very generous. She always supplied the pantry with food and items kids would need.” -Mrs. Wike
“There are so many moments to choose from. But one of the things I will miss about her is her generosity and kindness towards students, parents, and co-workers. One memory I have with her is all the talks we had and her encouraging me to keep pushing forward even when it was hard.”-Mrs. Volk
I know that every time I saw she was calling me from the office, I knew she would say “Ok Honey.” She was always kind to me and she will truly be missed here at NMS.”–Mrs. Ciminero.
