On October 9th, students from Niles Middle School, their parents and family members, and staff got to enjoy one of the best traditions that NMS hosts! It’s the 15th annual Harvest Dinner. It looked as if every family that attended had a wonderful time. Ms. Rose, Ms. Keatley and the NMS WEB leaders worked really hard to make this experience enjoyable and memorable. The weather was beautiful; you could not have pictured a better fall evening! They organized fun activities such as pumpkin decorating, a craft table, face painting, bracelet selling, and Kona Ice.
Can you think of anyone who doesn’t like to win something? Well, we can’t. That’s where WEB leaders came in. There were also two big tables with many raffle baskets donated and made by the creative hands of WEB Team. Some of the baskets had really cute themes like Starbucks, game night, Ohio State and much more!
One activity that many students loved was the face painting table. The WEB leaders enjoyed talking to the students and painting fun designs on the students’ faces. We had many different kinds of stencils to make it a little bit easier for our NMS WEB leaders who were working the face painting shift! All of the kid
s were so eager to see the finished product! Once the WEB students finished up, it looked awesome, and all of the designs were exactly what the students wanted. Aliyah Harris, a student here at NMS said “I enjoyed face painting at the Harvest Dinner. A lot of children came to me requesting to paint a minion face on them. About 5-6. It was very fun! Another kid, about 3, wanted a bumblebee. I hand painted it!”
Ms. Newman, the art teacher, volunteered for WEB to set up a pumpkin painting craft in her room. Ms. Newman had every color of paint and markers you could think of for the children to paint their pumpkins with. There were so many pumpkins, and all the ones that got decorated were so creative and cute. The pumpkin painting was a success, and all the students had an amazing time coloring and painting fun designs.
The WEB leaders and some NMS staff were kind enough to get the fantastic food ready. Thanks to them, the food was really good. We had pasta, beans, hotdogs, and salad. Then, guests got to indulge in everyone’s favorite—Kona Ice—because who doesn’t love Kona Ice! It was so nice to see many students and kids playing many outdoor games such as basketball, football, volleyball, and cornhole! Thanks to the NMS web leaders and Ms. Rose and Ms. Keetley for the most amazing experience.
NMS is so excited for the years to come hosting the Harvest Dinner!
