Step back Stanley; you have some competition. Remember when Stanleys took over Hydroflasks? Well, Stanleys are being taken over by an up and coming tumbler called the Owala. Owalas are leak-proof tumblers that DON’T spill whatsoever. So if you were to knock it down, it won’t cause you to have to go get
a bunch of paper towels. Whenever you knock down a Stanley, they spill instantly. That’s why a lot of these tumblers are banned from some classes. That’s not the only thing that is great about them, there’s more!
The Owala tumblers aren’t just leak-proof, but they are cheaper than Stanley’s. For a 40 oz Owala tumbler, it is $37.99. A 32 oz Owala tumbler is $32.99, a 24 oz Owala tumbler is $27.99. A 40 oz Stanley tumbler is $45.00, for a 30 oz it’s $35.00, and for a 20 oz it is $30.00. I know, they are BOTH expensive, but it is a price difference if you like to buy more than one.
Not only are Owala’s cheaper, but Stanleys and Owala’s operate differently. With Stanleys they have a straw, or you can move the top of it and drink out of it like a coffee cup. With Owalas, you can either tip it to drink it, or there is astraw that you can drink out of. The straw is built inside of the cup, so you just have to open the lid and sip it. They don’t just have different ways to drink it, but Owala’s have a lock. The lock goes over the lid; that’s how it is locked. The lock isn’t a regular lock though, it’s actually the handle. So you can just lift the handle up and go, or you can just grab it and go. It’s really great to have a lock so no water spills. Stanleys are just known for water leaks.
Not only do the tumblers operate differently, but you can pick the color of your cup, but the color works differently. With Stanleys you can only get one with one color, a neon one, or one of the limited edition ones. Stanleys do have really cool designs! They had a Barbie ( see Mrs. Ciminero’s LOL) , Olivia Rodrigo, and Halloween ones. Sadly, since they are limited edition ones, you can’t get them anymore. But, with the Owala tumblers, you can only have three colors. I guess you can say they are just simpler. They are still really cute but your choices are just limited.
I asked three students who have both Owala and Stanley tumblers to tell me if they liked the Owala tumblers better or the Stanley tumblers better. Here is what they said:
Allyson Whitt says: “ The Owala cup is better because it has two ways to drink out of it! One way is with a straw and another way is you can tip it! Another fact about Owala’s is you can mix and match the colors and there are many different colors! The Owala also can’t spill because it has a lock and the lock can turn into a handle! Lastly, when you drink it, you look like a Koala!”
Brielle Henry says: “ In my opinion Owalas are better than Stanley’s. I have both tumblers but the Owala doesn’t leak/spill and is cheaper than the Stanley’s. Also with Owala’s you can fit them in more spaces and they are way cuter. Finally, if it were up to me Owala’s would be the way to go.”
Larkin Stanford says:“ I personally like my Owala better. I like my Owala better because it is more manageable. It is also leak-proof and light-weight.”
Now if that isn’t enough evidence to prove to you that Owala’s are better than Stanleys, then maybe you can get the tumbler and see which one suits you better. We all have different opinions and we all have different styles, so picking one of them defines our style. But in my opinion, move over Stanley; Owalas are the new kid on the block. I mean come on; who wouldn’t want to look like a Koala while drinking out of a tumbler? Just another fun perk!
