Hello and welcome to Fish Fact Friday. If you’re new, I’m Fishman, aka Nicolas Logan, and if you didn’t know, I AM OBSESSED WITH FISH! This week’s fish is the Stingray. They are usually found underneath sand or mud in shallow water because they are bottom feeders. Their diet consists of clams, oysters, snails, shrimp, worms, small fish, and squid. Their trademark barb can be quite dangerous, sometimes needing surgery for removal. Also, stingrays, similar to other rays, are closely related to sharks, both being cartletidgenous. In addition, the giant freshwater stingray is the heaviest freshwater fish ever caught, being able to weigh up to 660 lbs.
