Another year, another sixth grade orientation! This summer, WEB advisers Ms. Keatley and Mrs. Rose set the dates for the orientation, Tuesday, August 13th. Our WEB members then spent their Monday morning training in preparation for the orientation. As Tuesday rolled around, the upcoming sixth grader must’ve felt so nervous, but excited! As the sixth grade started to walk into the gymnasium, they came over to the table with name tags and found theirs. They then sat down while Mr. Reigle and other staff welcomed them. They talked about basic rules and activities like band and choir. We then split up into groups, giving the sixth grade their schedules and state test scores to bring home to their parents. Now comes the fun part – a scavenger hunt! Sixth graders and their groups went on a scavenger hunt to find their classes, collecting a piece of candy/pencil at almost every station! They also sang songs in the choir room, drew pictures in computer tech, and created a group name! After the scavenger hunt, WEB members taught them how to open their lockers and showed them where their classes would be in order. Everyone had so much fun, and got the sixth-grade jitters off of their chest. Above are some pictures of the great time!
