Do you think this trending $40 fabulous, colorful, blinged-out tumbler is worth the money? Stanley began making water bottles and thermoses in 1913, over a CENTURY ago, but their fame really started to happen after The Quencher 2.0 Flowstate Tumbler came out. Although they didn’t start off well, they started to become a major hit. BUT, there is a lot of controversy about the Stanley cup. Does it hold its coldness long? Does it spill? Does it fit in the car’s cup holders? Is it worth $45? Because let’s be honest, who wants to pay for a $40 cup? Definitely not me, that’s why I didn’t buy mine!
Well, what made these cups so popular? One of the reasons this started to become so popular was because of the Stanley x Lainey Wilson Collaboration, which was a tumbler that was metallic gold, brown, and green. But the main reason for Stanley’s fame was influencers on Tiktok. Once the influencers bought them, more and more people bought them creating another trend – “Watertok.” And now you’re probably thinking — what’s “Watertok?” Watertok was a viral trend on Tiktok where people would buy LOADS of water flavor packets, skinny syrups, different kinds of juices, and even ICEMAKERS! There’s also many other trends that have gone viral on TikTok and other social media platforms with Stanley. Some include making an ice cream sundae with your Stanley, putting your Dunkin or Starbucks cups in them, and even decorating them.
There are some disadvantages with having a Stanley cup though. One disadvantage is that they are very big and a little heavy which may make it harder to carry around wherever you go. Luckily, they come in different sizes. 14 oz, 20 oz, 30 oz, 40 oz, and 64 oz are the choices you get so you can pick which one works best for you! Another disadvantage is the loud bangs when they fall off the desks. EVERYONE JUMPS! One more con would be that they do leak from the top. BUT! There is a solution for that too, there are many different varieties of cute and cheap stanley toppers that you can pick from that block your cup from leaking.
So, what’s better? Stanley or HydroFlask? We asked around to try and settle this debate:
Adalyn Sprague: I prefer Hydro Flask because I feel that they are cuter, more leak-proof, less bulky, and better for on-the-go compared to tumblers. Also, I feel that Hydro Flask can hold ice longer than Stanley, but that’s just my opinion.
Mrs. C: I do love my Stanley. I love that it has a handle and yes, it does fit in my cup holder as long as I remove that rubber thing. Plus it’s so colorful ( I love flourescent colors). Plus I got the flower straw protector. My Stanley is “representin”.
After all these opinions, what do you think is best?
