James Haywood: Proud to Be a Scout!

8th grader by day, Boy Scout by night!

A shout out is in order for James Haywood who wanted to pay tribute to our veterans by wearing his Boy Scout attire to school on Friday, November 10th.

James has been a Boy Scout for the past three years.. He is an official member of Troop 101 in Warren and plans on sticking with it until he is 18. Boy Scouts have official rankings and presently he is ranked as First Class. He is on his way to the ranking of “Star” and he plans on achieving that very soon.

James is so very proud to have been voted a Patrol Leader for his troop. Some of the names of leader roles are: Falcon, Hawk, Bison, and Beaver. James has the honor of being a “Beaver” and he is in charge of six members. His jobs are leading in demonstrations, cooking, and preparing for camps outs.

And speaking of camp outs James said that is truly his favorite part of being a Boy Scout. They have been all over: Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and even Canada! His favorite activity during campouts is “repelling” which sounds both fun and dangerous at the same time. It has to do with a rope and mountain and a very brave soul who wants to descend down it. That of course, would be James!

James loves being a Boy Scout and if anything it teaches him the life skills he will need when he enters adulthood. James states, “ I love nature”, and that in fact is what being a Boy Scout is all about!
